MOVIE REVIEW - Platform
There are a dozen reviews on movies these days, so why should you read mine? I am only writing my viewpoint/perspective on the movie 'Platform' and have no intention to promote or demote the movie
Platform
Platform is about a dystopian prison system, which ironically seems to resemble the system created by humans for life as we know it.
Movie gradually grows on you and makes you think and compare it to various aspects in your day today life. I'm sure everybody is going to have a very different take and perspective based on when/mood you are watching it.
It wasn't a surprise that I caught myself thinking "Isn't the government looking into the finer details of non-sense rather than fix the larger issue at stake."
Rating - 4/5
*** Spoiler Alert ***
The movie starts in a dystopian prison system where convicts are fed by means of a platform which gradually descends through each level.
Here each level represents Caste, Creed, Race or any other classification created by humans to differentiate or demean each other. Similar to life, levels here are designated by sheer luck and keeps changing each month. Inmates are either happy that they are on top or in despair that they are at the bottom but theme doesn't change 'one's on top wouldn't listen and the one's at the bottom are weak so it's okay to be inhuman.'
Best Scene - Protagonist steps in with a book
Unlike the usual prison where one does time for the crime he commits, here one can do time for a significant something he/she wants to gain. This fictional prison also lets its convicts choose a tool/thing of his choice before he steps into the prison.
Protagonist steps in with a book just like a newbie in a system with his own ideas and curious mind and soon the system imposes its ugly side and leaves him with no choice than to adapt or die.
Worst Scene - Supporter suddenly follows the Protagonist
Each level has two inmates and do their time together each month until one complete their time or usually dies. Protagonist shares his level with three different inmates, the third relationship isn't very clearly defined and doesn't make sense when the supporting character suddenly decides to follow the protagonist.
Funny Scene - The background music
Background music establishes the relationship with the first inmate and protagonist and with a drop the whole situation changes overturns and the audience is left to grasp and come to terms with the theme/emotion of the movie.
